  • Beating Dyslexia: A free resource for beating dyslexia in reading, writing and spelling.

  • Read On My Yon: The Read on myON Project provides access to a digital library to all children from birth through 8th grade in Hillsborough County. The program offers literacy tools and a large collection of enhanced digital books with content in English, French, and Spanish to encourage reading.
  • USF Reading Camps: Designed and taught by instructors from the Institute of Reading Development, our eight summer programs for children in grades K-12 improve reading skills and comprehension. School year classes also available.

Science

  • Ck12: A free online website for K-12 with explanatory videos and resources on various topics in science.
  • Khan Academy: A free online website with explanations for high school science topics in physics, chemistry, biology, anatomy, cosmology, and more.
  • PhET Simulations: Powered by the University of Colorado, this site provides dozens of engaging simulations for physics, chemistry and biology. The website also includes a collection of teacher contributed activities, lab experiences, homework assignments and conceptual questions that can be used with the simulations.
  • SciShow Videos: Short, high-interest videos about a wide variety of science topics.
  • Amoeba Sisters: Funny animated videos that explain biology concepts in an appealing and understandable way.
  • Crash Course: Witty, visually appealing videos on a wide variety of high school level science topics.
  • Quizlet: Create your own flashcards to practice vocabulary, terminology, and other skills, or use what others have already created.
  • Science Snacks: Science Snacks are hands on, teacher tested, and use cheap, available materials. Satisfy your curiosity without ever getting full.
  • NASA: For Educators - Lesson plans, teacher guides, classroom activities, video clips, games, posters, and more for teachers and students in grades K-4, 5-8, 9-12, and higher education.
  • Steve Spangler: Science Experiment Archives - A terrific variety of fun, hands-on and simple experiments to do as a demonstration or with a group of students to raise the fun-factor and teach scientific principles.
  • ZOOM Science Experiments: Focus on Engineering Design - A long list of hands-on science and engineering activities appropriate especially for students grades 2-10.

Coding

  • Scratch : A block-based visual programming language and website targeted primarily at children 8-16 as an educational tool for coding.
  • Code Combat : A coding based game for children to play and learn the basics of coding.
  • Code.org: a nonprofit dedicated to teaching students how to code at their own pace.
  • Crunchzilla: Coding explanations and examples for young children(Code Monster) or other tutorials for ages 12+.
  • Learn Unity: a coding tutorial made by the Unity Game Engine to teach kids how to create video games.
  • Code In Game: Learn new concepts by solving fun challenges in 25+ languages addressing all the hot programming topics. (Recommended for ages 15+).
  • Swift Playgrounds: a game making and swift language teaching app for apple/iOS devices only.
  • Computer Science: Has lots of resources and information for coding education.

Social Studies

  • Khan Academy: A free online website for K-12 with explanatory videos and resources on various social studies topics.
  • Library of Congress: Thematic primary source sets for high school level history topics.

Time Management/Organizational Resources

  • Cozi: A free app to organize events, family, and more.

Social Emotional Development

  • Edutopia Activities to Build Social-Emotional Development: Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and happiness/wellness skills have great implications for helping the next generation.
